What is the exchange programme?

by evgnadmin last modified 2008-01-23 15:17

Being a young scientist working for the European Vascular Genomics Network means having a real chance to learn new techniques and perform stat-of-the-art experiments in close contact with some of the leading European researchers and experts in the cardiovascular field. Being an EVGN senior scientist means, as well, to exploit the expertise of partner institutions and foreign colleagues, to offer short-courses with full-time teaching, and to establish new collaborations and research projects focused on specific aspects and clinical applications in the field of cardiovascular disease.

These goals are achievable through the EVGN Exchange Programme. These are visiting training periods of one week to six months fostering the multidisciplinary collaboration among EVGN institutions. The Exchange Programme is structured to promote the spreading of expertise and knowledge from one laboratory to another, and allow talented and willing junior researchers to learn from senior colleagues in foreign countries and to cooperate with their team for extensive periods. Covered topics may range from high throughput techniques and computational biology to simpler every-day experiments focused on specific aspects of cardiovascular disease, according to the individual expertise and facilities provided by the host laboratory. Senior scientists as well do participate in the Exchange Programme, by visiting partner laboratories for in-depth teaching and share of novel experimental methods and techniques, both on the basic science side and on the clinical side.

In the following section we have collected some recent experiences from EVGN students and senior scientists. Reading them you will learn about their training work and discover more details about the research carried out in EVGN laboratories.
